Automotive Listings Plugin: Major Update
Last Updated 9 years ago

In our newest update 5.9 of the Automotive plugin we've incorporated quite a few new updates to make the code run much smoother for your end users. One of these updates includes automatically generated URL friendly slugs for your categories now, this will be especially helpful for users who use languages that include multibyte characters (é, β, д, ů, etc).

With the new features our plugin requires data conversion with your listing categories and your listings. We have a script which automatically runs after you update the plugin and converts your existing data and creates a backup of your listing categories in case anything goes wrong.

We always recommend backing up your files and database before updating your plugin.

However even with all our testing and backup precautions we still highly recommend backing up your database and plugin files in case anything is to go wrong as unforeseen complications can arise at any time. There are tons of plugins you can use for backing up your data like this one.

After you have updated the plugin there will be a few areas of your site you will need to reconfigure.
  1. If you are using the search box shortcode then you will need to edit the shortcode and reassign the listing categories that are available in the dropdown.
  2. If you are using the inventory shortcode with pre-selected terms you will need to edit the shortcode and select the terms that are pre-selected on the page load.
  3. If you are using any filter widgets under "Appearances" >> "Widgets" you will need to re-assign the listing categories selected there and save them.
If you have any other questions or problems with the new update, feel free to open a support ticket.
